ABOVE IS AN ANNOTATED VERSION OF OUR FILM WHERE SOME TECHNOLOGY WAS NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE PRODUCTION.
Imovie-
Camera-
The Canon Powershot digital camera was released by Canon in 2013. It does not contain WIFI like other cameras within this Canon series, however it has up to four hours of footage space, making it suitable to hold our filming and extra shots. It was placed onto a tripod to ensure that the shot remained steady and smooth. Its battery life was good and only required changing minimal amounts of time. The quality of the shots were clear even when zoomed tightly onto an object. The lighting from the windows affected the detail that the camera picked up, but we fixed that by having the camera at an angle. Its memory card was easy to remove to attach to the Mac Book pro.
IPhone and Garage band
An Iphone was used instead of the camera in order to record diegetic sound. The quality was far better on this piece of equipment because of the microphone which picked up sounds to a clear standard. Despite this, it was no trouble to transfer the sound and edit them. On the other hand Garage band was also used to record sound directly onto the Mac itself. The Iphone was used to create the time lapse which appears behind the production name "scratch studios." Because of Garage Band, we had the opportunity to create layers of voice recordings and create our own music had we not found any appropriate existing ones.Other technologies that were used throughout this filming process include YouTube which we uploaded our final version to, researched unknown aspects of filming such as 'How to create a black eye' and find inspiration from existing films with the same genre. Blogger has been used to keep a record of the development of our film and to keep us on track to progress even further.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGY?
- I have learnt that we should not rely heavily on technology without a back up plan, otherwise our filming schedule will be set back.
- I also learnt about how to use Blogger which was a new experience for me
- I have never done editing on Imovie so I had to start from scratch before I used it on our film opening.
- I have learnt about the length of footage time should always be longer than we would like so we have spare footage to play with.
- I learnt that any unknown answers or information could be found simply by using YouTube and search engines. This allowed me as a person to be more independent with this task.
