NARRATIVE ONE

Narrative One for our film opening

This is our brain storm for what our opening scene to a narrative could look like. We decided to each choose one element of filming that we each had a passion for , then worked together to pick a genre. when watching films and television , I found myself drawn to the aspect of Mise-en-Scene, particularly set and props. Other popular features were action, blood, comedy , music and a lack of dialogue. It wasn't long before we all decided on doing a crime film which had a hint of dark comedy. From this photograph, our plot is told in sequence to make it easier for our opening narrative to first and foremost make sense. For our first narrative we thought something a bit different would be better as any ideas we may have , are less likely to be an obvious plagiarised piece.

Characters
Jack- A 17 year old student who lives with his dad. he is often portrayed as 'a lad' by his friends but crumbles when put into unfamiliar situations. the story is told through Jack's perspective, making him the protagonist.


Jack's dad- Jack's dad is Jack's only parent. he often tries his best with Jack and is the opposite to his troublesome brother.


Jack's Uncle - The antagonist of the film who is revealed to be a part of a criminalistics gang. At first it appears that he adores his nephew until his work interferes with his family life.




Plot

• Jack arrives home battered and bruised after what appears to be a car chase full of violence and weapon use.
• His voice over explains that this is in fact the end of the story and proceeds to offer the full story of how he got into this predicament.
• A flash back to the start of the story (a week earlier) shows Jack getting ready for school and hopping into his Uncle's car for a lift.
• Later that evening, Jack walks in on his uncle 'attending business' in the form of chopping someone's thumbs off.
•  At this secret being exposed, Jack spends the rest of the film trying to get his Uncle arrested whilst his Uncle comes after him and , in effect, kill him.

OUR INSPIRATION
We have gotten our inspiration from film genres such as 'Kickass' and 'Hotfuzz' as we believe that these films incorporated what each member of the group were looking for and in equal amounts.
